Problem solving!

To start off this week the children were awesome.  We were in line when I saw my boss fixing the bags from the other grade levels.  I told them softly "see her fixing the bags, it would be really cool if we go and help her".  The kids didn't hesitate to help.  They raced to the bags and started helping my boss.  That was really cool.  Its like they are mini servants of God.  PTL! As we went on yesterday it got better and better.  My girls usually have lots of drama going on between each other.  They like to tell on one another.  Two girls who are best friends came up to me saying"Ms.Ashley, she did this and said that" the other one cuts her off and says "It's only because you did this".  I had to sign out with a parent so I watched them from a distance as they were talking.  After I returned to them about a minute later they were smiling and laughing with one another and said "We talked about it and we know how each other feels, so were going to try and not do this to make each other upset'.  That put a huge smile on my face.  I think they finaly understood how to problem solve on there own without having to come to me.  AWESOME KIDS THEY ARE!!

Basketball with the kiddies!

Played basketball with my kids this week.  Usually only a few of them want to play, but this time it was more than normal.  We play on a 8 foot rim.  The funny thing about it is that I can dunk, so the kids love it when I dunk.  So they all wanted to try.  One at a time I picked them up enough so they could almost dunk.  They were enjoying themselves and that put a huge smile on my face.  Tomorrow is Friday and I have momentum, our church's worship night.  It's going to be sick! Got a long weekend ahead of me but its going to be awesome.  With the kids tomorrow I'm planning to play relay games and it is going to be interesting and fun!

Dog Pile

I work at an after school program (A plus) for an elementary school on Hawaii.  I watch kindergarteners everyday and its awesome!  The thing I love about my group is their distinct personalities that makes up our whole group.  It is a joy for me to teach them things and to have fun with them everyday.  This past wednesday while playing a running game with my kids i bent down to rest from running.  One of my kids decided that it would be funny to jump on my back.  I then fell down and was on my stomach.  The other kids thought that it would be fun to dog pile their leader.  One by one the kids jumped on.  All I could hear was laughter, and i wanted to get up and chase them, but I was unable to as I had 10 or so of them on me and the rest watching and laughing along.  So in my inability to get up, I called over the walkie talkie for my coworker who was across the field with his own group to please help me.  My coworker came to the rescue as he attempted to peel of my kids one at a time so that I could get up.  This is one of my many adventures I have had so far this school year and look forward to having more :)
