Time Fly's by

There is only a month left in the school year for A plus.  I have known my kids for 7 months.  Doesn't seem long, but I see them monday thru friday for at least 3 hours.  We have had rough times, but the good times made it all worth while.  They have all grown so much, from not knowing how to write their letter to writing sentences.  I have been helping them a lot lately because their homework has been getting harder, forcing them to really think for themselves.  I am so proud of them.  As it gets closer to the end of the year I am getting sad, because they will not be in my group anymore.  After summer they will be going to the 1st grade.  It will be a great last month with them, I can't wait to watch them at our family night dance. I really want to make the most of it!

Power line!

This week tuesday I played a game called "power line" with them.  To give a brief summary of this game, there are two teams, one on each side.  You are trying the roll a ball at someones feet on the opposite team.  If you are successful in hitting them where they are not able to get possession of the ball they need to sit down until their teammates link together touching one of the cones surrounding the play area which is the power line".  The reason I had them play this game; in order to teach them to work together, a lot of the times when we play games together or do activities together they are all out for themselves and wanting to win.  Being on a team in this game forced them to work with one another.  There is no way you would be able to win this game by yourself.  I have been teaching my kids that a group/team is a lot like a body; where there are different people with different parts/roles, working together is the only way it can reach It's full ability.  I was very proud of them as we began playing the game, I decided to play with them in order to bring a sense of enthusiasm to the game.  They were all doing very well, helping one another and trying to share the ball with their teammates. At one point the whole entire group was playing, so AWESOME! God really anointed it, and I felt that a lot of good came out of this!

Dancing away!

At the end of every school year our A plus site has a family night.  All the grade levels do a dance, then in the end we all eat and hangout.  It's pot luck style and theirs tons of different foods.  This year the Kindergartener's are dancing to "Let's groove tonight" by Earth wind and fire.  Its a pretty chill song, but they are staring to get the dance and are having fun with it.  Sometimes our practices are good, then we have other times when they flat out don't want to practice, when that happens we just try to make the most of it.  I am really excited.  The craziest thing.....God used one of my children to encourage me.  A majority of them were not practicing this time, and One of my kids says "Ms.Ashley, I like dancing, do you see me trying?"  So cute!  I just was enthused by that and the rest of the practice went great.  Im excited for the performances!!!

Fun filled wednesday

Wednesday is the longest day of the week at work, because this Sunday is Easter we had an Easter egg hunt.  Imagine 65 kindergartener's running to find eggs in a large field.  Yup crazy, but they were having fun.  Thats all that mattered.  Before we did the Easter egg hunt we practiced our family night dance,  first time we all practiced together, which by God's grace went really well :)  Going from the Easter egg hunt we were able to redeem their eggs for little goodie bags.  They loved it and that made me happy.  We also had the opportunity to dye eggs together.  All of them loved it and I could tell that they were blessed.  I really believe God chose to have this Wednesday be fun filled and safe!!!

Jun Can Po

My group and I's official new favorite game is Jun Can Po.  We have all the hula hoops lined up in a line, and then we hop in towards the other person from the opposite team.  When we meet them we Jun Can Po.  The winner moves on, the loser goes to the back of the line.  This game sounds boring, not with my group.  I have such a distinct group of kids that everything we play ends up being super fun.  So I had one of my kids stuff animals and it has a nub hand because its a horse, it was my turn to Jun Can Po and I went up to my kid and said I'm ready, he was like wait what?  So we Jun Can Poed and I loss.  Haha.  It's because I can only do rock.  Haha.  That just broke the mood, everything after that was intense and fun....God always blesses us with fun and and enjoyment.  Til next week stay tuned!

Spring break

This week my kids were off at school, so i decided to try and pick up some hours at our facilities where the kids go for spring time.  This week i was watching 1st and 2nd graders, it was not to much different from kindergarten.  Having to know all their names and thinking of activities for this age group was probably the hardest part of this week.  As today was the 3rd day I have worked with them it was easy.  We played soccer and the girls did not want to play.  The rest of the group played and I got the chance to play along with them, that was a lot of fun.  They were also allowed to make keki id's today.  They were really excited.  I did an activity with them where they colored a picture and they wrote down things they are thankful for, looking at what they already have.  One of my kids said that he was thankful for God.  How cool is that?  Tomorrow is the last day and we are going swimming.  I am sure that is going to be an adventure in itself!
